big iron pays homage to the revolver that became an icon of the American West. Built at monumental scale, the sculpture takes the form of a Colt .45, constructed from steel, stainless steel, and white oak.
The piece draws inspiration from the song Big Iron, the story of a duel between an Arizona Ranger and outlaw Texas Red in the town of Agua Fria.
Stainless steel forms suggest smoke and vines, giving way to angel's trumpets, flowers known for their deadly beauty, a quality shared by the revolver they surround.
